1. Where is Chom Nui lake?

Chom Nui lake is located in Nam Son commune, Soc Son district, Hanoi. This is a large and beautiful natural lake with poetic scenery, about 40km away from the center of Hanoi. The lake's surface is quite wide and airy, keeping its inherent wildness intact. In the summer from April to September every year, the water level drops quite low to reveal beautiful green lawns. In winter, the water level is quite high, so there are not many beautiful camping sites.

2. How to go to Chom Nui lake

The road to Chom Nui lake is quite easy to go, you can come here by personal means such as cars, motorbikes. Currently, there is no signboard to enter the lake, so you need to use Google Maps to get here. 

The road to the lake consists of 2 main directions with red arrows in the image below.

The yellow line will be flooded and can't go from September to December.

The positions are marked by red color are the places where you can camp from September to December. In the summer, you don't have to worry about camping but it's very sunny.

3. Fully enjoy the peace in the midst of nature at Chom Nui lake

In contrast to the busy, noisy and smoky city, this place has fresh air and clear blue water. That is why Chom Nui lake area is considered an ideal camping site for many young people and families every weekend.

With a charming landscape favored by nature, this place is suitable for picnics, camping, eating barbecue...

When coming here, you can prepare your own SUP boat and play on the lake. SUP is a fairly simple sport that doesn't take much time to get used to. However, before going into the water, go online to learn some basic SUP paddle techniques to avoid being surprised at the first time and don't forget to prepare a life jacket.

This tourist destination is near Hanoi but quite isolated, the dining areas are quite far away from here, so you should prepare food in advance. After having dinner, you can return or camp overnight to watch the sunrise on next day. If you plan to stay overnight, don't forget to prepare your tent carefully and bring insect repellent.

The beautiful sunrise in this unspoiled land can help you re-energize for a new day.

The estimated cost of the whole trip is about 300 - 500 thousand VND/person, including money to buy food and petrol for transportation. 

Currently, there are a number of rental offices for camping equipment such as tents, tarpaulins, stoves, blankets and pillows near the lake. You can find out and book in advance, then the items will be received when you arrive at the lake, so you don't need to worry about bringing too much stuff.

4. Notes when camping in Chom Nui lake

• Around the lake are military zones, so avoid using Flycam
• Because it is separate from residential areas, you should prepare enough food and drinks.
• Rent a tent in the summer and more blankets in the winter 
• In the summer, you should go in the evening or overnight
• 4g, 3g waves are not good here, sometimes it's no waves at all. 
• The lake may have a garbage collection fee, a cleaning fee, or a camping fee, depending on the area you choose. 
• Before you leave, don't forget to clean up the trash.
